Bow Hunting At 30 Degrees definitely has advantages, and very few disadvantages.
I absolutely love bow hunting and I love the colder weather. The cold weather eliminates most of the flying insects, and especially the mosquitoes. In Missouri the mosquitoes are huge and plentiful, so getting a couple of hard freezes is vital to kill off the mosquito population.
I typically carry extra clothing in my backpack as well as water, food, and snacks for the entire day hunt. If I am taking the time to go hunt, then I am staying in the woods all day long to get the best from my hunt. The colder weather also helps spark the deer movement as well as the rut.
I am testing out a new bow that I just picked up and excited to see how it feels in my summit viper sd climbing tree stand. This tree stand has a rail around it which makes it much easier having a fairly short and lightweight bow for easy handling in the tree stand.
This Mathews Creed XS is only 28″ axle to axle, a low weight of 3.85#, and quick as a cat. This quiet, lightweight bow has given me everything that I’ve been after for quite sometime now.
As I am creating this blog post on my iPhone 6plus, from my tree stand, I’ve only seen a few does and this one smaller buck in the picture below. I will bringing my oldest granddaughter Breanna back to bow hunt with me next week, so this buck has her name all over him. Breanna has been shooting some very nice, right groups with her Browning bow, so I am excited to get her on her first deer with her bow.
This picture above was at our house in the backyard last month and wanted to share it if her shooting her bow. Breanna had developed really good form, and is just a natural at it. The best part is; she loves it! This makes me really happy. 🙂

After checking my game cameras awhile back I wanted to share with you what one of the cameras had on it…
When I first seen this picture I thought it was mountain lions, but after downloading the pictures and blowing them up on my iPad, I realized they are very big bobcats. I do mean big to! Bobcats around here normally don’t get this big, so these big cats have been eating pretty good. Here kitty kitty.
